FOAL PHOTOS!

This is Jake, who's by Fury out of Twin Lake Karen Did-It. He was born April 20, 1998 right after we did chores and had gone in the house to eat. I went out after dinner to look at the mare and there he was, struggling to get up for the first time! Always like it when it works like that. In these photos, he's 2 days old. Jack was sold as a 2-year old and is doing well.

This is Dad's first look at his first '98 foal on the ground. He was pretty fascinated watching the little guy's antics.

And here's Jake in mid-June, growing like a weed. He's also in some of the photos below.

The next foal , whose name is Princess, was born April 24, 1998, to Twin Lake Maria Degas. In this first photo, she's only a couple of hours old. In the other photos, she's nearly two months old. She is sired by Avatar's Chieftain 275531 and belongs to Cliff Shipley of Martin, MI.

Then we had a 5-week hiatus until Doc was born to Mabel on June 1, (2 and a half weeks late!). Then 11 days later, Dan was born to Megan. Both are sired by Fury and should make a great team some day - maybe hitch prospects! Dan is a full brother to Mack, whose 1997 foal photos you can see now or wait 'til you get to the bottom of the page and click the link there.

1997 FOAL PHOTOS

This is Mack. Born May 10, 1997, here he's outside with mama (Megan) for the first time at 2 days old. Mom was frantic to keep him close, so he gave her quite a workout!

Yes, he's a Sorrel. Megan's family tree has a sneaky, recessive red gene which crops out now and then. So, instead of a Black or Gray, we get "RED"! Anyone know of a Percheron fancier collecting reds? Once upon a time there was someone doing that.

In these shots, Mack is about 6 weeks old and beginning to shed his baby coat. What's coming in under it is quite dark maybe he'll end up a Bay instead of a Sorrel. Maybe I should start a pool winner take all minus administrative costs? What do you think? As you can see, he's not happy about being held captive on a lead line. When you're the little prince, such restraint is hard to tolerate.

And here's Mack as he looked in March, 1998. 10 months old in this photos, he was purchased in January of 1998 by Julie and Larry Dudley of Grand Junction, Michigan. Julie took these pics and sent us copies. They're hoping we'll have a team mate for him in '98! He appears to be turning darker and showing gray under the still-red coat, mane and tail. We'll keep tabs, but we're betting he's gray within a couple of years.

L to R: Blackjack 1993, 1st day, very tired; Charlie, 1988, 2 months old and feisty
